Orroroo Main Street Upgrade Project Update (October 2024)
In early October 2024, DCOC submitted an application for the Commonwealth Government’s Growing Regions Program Round 2 for the main street upgrade. Feedback from the community has informed the final concept design that has been prepared for the grant submission. Following the community and DCOC feedback during the consultation period and presentation (pictured), some adjustments have been made to the design:
Extending the paving further east to include the Op Shop and link to the Black Rock Woolpress.
Maintaining the width of the existing carparks
Reducing the area of garden beds previously proposed.
Reviewing the stormwater issues at the SE corner of Fifth and Fourth St.
Truck turning templates to be refined at the 54 31 and butcher corners (yet to be updated)
Reconfiguring the western end between Promotors and the Orroroo Hotel to match other areas of the main street (including kerbing and planting) following feedback.
The design is not 100% final, and if DCOC is successful with the funding application, further consultation including a community information session and site walk will take place in 2025 to help explain the design and seek final input from stakeholders to make sure it meets the needs of the community.
