MEDIA RELEASE: Council Land division funding received – creating 23 new residential lots at Paratoo South Road Orroroo to help grow the township
It’s with great excitement that the District Council of Orroroo Carrieton acknowledges the announcement by the State Government that the Council was successful in its application to receive financial support to progress the release of land within the Orroroo Township.
Council made submission to the State Government’s Regional Housing Initiative Program and was successful in receiving $467,591 (excluding GST) to help fund infrastructure needed to be delivered to create the 23 residential lot land division.
Mayor Chapman says that “the initiative has been in making for a period of 12-18 months and this announcement now allows Council to start to progress and work to create the allotments.
Council has taken the proactive step of purchasing the land in the first instance and has now been rewarded with this significant financial assistance that will allow Council, on behalf of the community, to progress the land division and supply land to the community for future land owners to build much needed homes in the township”.
The need for regional townships to survive and thrive into the future is predicated on many factors. The supply of land for new housing is one such critical element to the success of Orroroo and other townships throughout the District.
Mayor Chapman wanted to take this opportunity to thank Council Members, and the previous Council CEO Mr Paul Simpson, for their collective efforts in working together to reach this milestone.
Every effort is now being directed to deliver the project and ensure the land division is approved, related infrastructure delivered and the allotments created and released to the market as soon as possible.
