ORROROO CARRIETON APPOINTS NEW CEO
Mayor Grant Chapman is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Stephen Rufus as Council’s new Chief Executive Officer following a formal recruitment process.
Stephen comes back to the Orroroo Carrieton Council area having previously held the position of CEO at the Council between September 2014 and December 2017.
Stephen brings a breadth of experience gained across many different management roles in local government. More recently Stephen held the position of Director Community & Corporate at the Port Pirie Regional Council.
Mayor Chapman said Council is delighted to welcome Stephen back to the district. “Stephen demonstrated to the interview panel that he had the necessary experience, understanding of the role and affinity with rural communities like ours”, he said. “Council looks forward to working with Stephen again in continuing Council’s many and varied contributions to our local community.”
Mr Rufus said he was very much looking forward to his commencement next month. “I am really honoured and excited to be joining the District Council of Orroroo Carrieton again and I am looking forward to immersing myself into this clearly vibrant rural community”.
Stephen’s appointment follows from the resignation of CEO, Paul Simpson who left Council in December 2024.
Mayor Chapman would also like to take the opportunity to thank Mr Henry Inat for his assistance over the past four months while he took on the Interim CEO role here at Council.
Stephen commences in the role on Monday, 31 March 2025.
