ORROROO CARRIETON APPOINTS NEW CEO

Mayor Kathie Bowman is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Paul Simpson as Council’s new Chief Executive Officer following a formal recruitment process.

Paul brings a breadth of experience gained across many different management roles in local government, state government and non-profit organisations over the last twenty years. He was most recently employed as the Director of Works and Infrastructure for the Kangaroo Island Council.

Mayor Bowman said Council is delighted to welcome Paul to the district. “Paul demonstrated to the interview panel that he had the necessary experience, understanding of the role and affinity with rural communities like ours”, she said. “Council looks forward to working with Paul in continuing Council’s very significant achievements of recent years.”

Mr Simpson said he and his family are looking forward to his commencement next month. “I am really honoured and excited to be joining the District Council of Orroroo Carrieton and I am looking forward to immersing my family into this clearly vibrant rural community”.

“I was fortunate to be brought up in a farming community and have worked in rural settings throughout my career. I hope to quickly expand on my knowledge of the needs of the community in Orroroo Carrieton and surrounds”, he said.

Paul’s appointment follows from the resignation of CEO, Dylan Strong who commences with Berri Barmera Council in April. The Council was ably assisted by McArthur throughout the recruitment process. Paul commences in the role on Tuesday, 26th April 2022.
