This year’s premier Community event - the “Despite the Dust” Muster

Like many regional areas of Australia, the Orroroo Carrieton district is currently experiencing a severe drought. As a region founded on agriculture the impacts of drought are far reaching.

The District Council of Orroroo Carrieton recognise that our community is doing it tough. Council is doing what it can to give the community a boost, reconnect people socially and bring support to each other as another dry summer looms ahead. We are organising a much needed community event of connection and collaboration to lift spirits.

The “Despite the Dust” Muster will be a free attendance event for families across the region and beyond. The Main Street will be closed for the event and the entire Orroroo CBD precinct will become a festival of live music (yes, some big names in the mix), food, drink, culture, children’s activities and stalls. It will also celebrate the recently renovated and rebooted Orroroo Memorial Hall as a key community hub.

The “Despite the Dust” Muster is open to everyone, and will be held on Friday 13 December from 4.30pm onwards in the Orroroo Main Street Precinct (Second Street, Orroroo).

We can’t make it rain, but we can do something to excite our community, band together and lift spirits in the face of drought. What better way for us to connect than to get together for some good food, entertainment and family fun!

YES, You can help!

The event is solely reliant on sponsorship and the generosity of businesses, corporates and organisations, many of whom are also part of the fabric of our community.

To date Council would like to acknowledge and thank the following organisations for their generosity and care –

-          OZ Minerals

-          Landmark Orroroo

-          Kilikanoon Wines, Clare Valley

-          The Northern & Yorke Natural Resources Management Board

If you would like help sponsor the event or would like to get involved in some other way please contact Jodie Boully at community@orroroo.sa.gov.au or at the Council office on 8658 1260.
